York County Literacy Council (YCLC) is providing a spectrum of literacy and language building programs:
The Adult Reading Program offers multi-level classroom and tutoring instruction to improve reading, writing, math and computer skills to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma. For many of these students earning a HSED is a crucial step in obtaining employment.
The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program helps adults who do not speak English as their first languages learn how to read, write, speak and understand English in everyday life situation. Many of the ESL students have an education from their native county and are earnest about learning English in order to become productive members of the York community.
Next Step Program is designed to offer YCLC clients support services which include employment opportunities, continuing education, US citizenship and personal goals that are a crucial part of their success.
Literacy In the Workplace program is for companies seeking to improve literacy comprehension, understanding and communication among its employees.
All YCLC services provided are free and services to adults.
