UCSB Model United Nations is a student-run organization that simulates United Nations debates. MUN encourages international awareness and develops communication skills by allowing students to take on the role of sovereign countries and individual characters in order to participate in structured debate to find solutions for global issues. Our members compete with students from other colleges and universities in conferences across the nation, in addition to hosting our own high school and collegiate-level conferences.
Outside of organizing conferences and fielding a competitive travel team, we are advocates for the United Nations and its principles through our leadership roles in the Santa Barbara Chapter of the United Nations Association, UCSB Associated Students, and Human Rights Board. Throughout the year, we host lectures, film screenings, and various other outreach events open to the Santa Barbara community.
Besides our work as an academic team and active campus advocate, UCSBMUN is a community of likeminded, driven individuals. It's the friendships and shared experiences that make MUN a worthwhile commitment!
We invite you to learn more about UCSBMUN and our members by attending one of our weekly meetings on Mondays, 7:00 pm in the UCen Santa Barbara Mission Room. Visit our Facebook Page for updated times and locations.
