Franciscans Network, a non-profit organization founded in October1989, provides opportunities for the Franciscan family to collaborate on projects of common interests.
Since its inception Franciscans Network has evolved to fit the needs of a changing world. Originally the organization supported Mustard Seed, a newsletter to inform and connect Franciscans. In 1998, the organization began to fund various Franciscans in their work to promote and protect human rights.
Franciscans Network provided much needed support to Franciscan grassroots efforts at the United Nations; it organized educational pilgrimages to Rome/Assisi/Geneva and to Northern Ireland; and has initiated an annual award to persons who have contributed significantly in Church and social justice matters.
Today, Franciscans Network focuses its efforts on three particular areas: programs to educate young lawyers in Brazil; continued support for Muslim-Christian dialogue; and funding for a school program of young children in a Franciscan parish in rural Pakistan.
