The UAB School of Engineering is an ABET-accredited engineering school located in Birmingham, Alabama. The school offers undergraduate degrees in Biomedical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, Engineering Design, as well as multiple graduate degree programs at the master's and doctoral levels.
With roughly 1,200 students, the school benefits from being part of a thriving urban center and being affiliated with a world-class medical research facility. In addition to their academic training in a rigorous engineering curriculum, the majority of UAB engineering students participate in co-ops and internships with local industries that provide opportunities for experiential learning.
UAB has a strong history of sponsoring entrepreneurship, and its engineering graduates can be found behind successful start-ups in Birmingham and around the world. Other graduates work in traditional engineering jobs as well as in academia, research, and corporate leadership positions worldwide.

--For the past two years, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, a joint department between the UAB Schools of Engineering and Medicine, has ranked fourth in the nation in NIH funding. <
--The Center for Materials Processing Applications and Development (MPAD) is a 20,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advanced composites and metal-castings research, which provides opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration for partners within the university as well as outside industry.<
--The Engineering and Innovative Technology Development (EITD) research group provides research and development work to NASA and other partners in contracts of up to $50 million per year in projects that support space transports as well as research on the International Space Station.
