O3NL supports (Ondersteunt) entrepreneurs (Ondernemers) in their efforts to develop (Ontwikkelen) technologically advanced ideas into successful companies. O3NL is a mentoring program, based on the concept that a starting entrepreneur has a greater chance of success if (s)he can rely on the personal advice and guidance from a group of experienced mentors. O3NL’s long term relationship with MIT’s Venture Mentoring Service made it possible for O3NL to attract a dynamic group of volunteer mentors who provide their time and skills so that others may succeed. The mentors have been trained to O3NL’s standards of impartiality and discretion. They have been selected not only for their expertise in business operations, growth, managing and developing technologies but also for their advisory skills in helping the entrepreneurs to achieve their objectives. Through personal and hands-on mentoring, O3NL’s entrepreneurs learn how to optimize their products and services, identify markets, build business organizations, and seek funding. Whatever their stage of development, all ventures are welcome. In addition to this code a relationship between mentors and entrepreneurs is only established when interests, needs and preferences between the two parties are matched with each other. Entrepreneurs are assured impartial and unbiased advice by their mentors all of whom must adhere to the principles and code of conduct of O3NL. By actively offering support to entrepreneurs, O3NL contributes to raising the level of entrepreneurship and strengthening the Netherlands’ capacity for innovation.
