South Lincoln School Fayetteville, Tennessee

South Lincoln School is a rural public school situated on the southern end of Lincoln County, Tennessee. The original construction of the school began in 1991 and was completed in August 1992 with 461 students. Because of overcrowding, the area surrounding the school was rezoned, and the number of students enrolled was reduced. In 2002, South Lincoln transitioned from a K-6 school to K-8 school. Statistical data indicates that the school's student population continues to grow with each new school year. Staff members include one principal, one assistant principal, 40 Highly Qualified teachers, and 32 support personnel. Our current student body population is 691 total students with 434 in grades K-5 and 237 in grades 6-8. South Lincoln works hard to provide opportunities to get all students involved in extracurricular activities as way of preparing them for the secondary level. Athletics and middle school band were added in 2002, and over the past few years, other programs and organizations have been offered, including Beta Club, Yearbook Staff, First Priority, Science/Robotics club, Eagle Spirit Club, etc. South Lincoln School provides students with afterschool childcare throughout the school year as well as the summer for those parents that may need this service. Our students also benefit from the LEAPS grant that allows our students to receive afterschool tutoring, remediation, and enrichment. Teachers as well as highly qualified support staff provide instruction as a way to assist students struggling. Student Council also encourages its participants to begin building an academic resume for use in not only high school but post-secondary levels as well. Since 2012 Leadership Lunches have been hosted by the student council in which representatives from colleges, Lincoln County High School, and various professionals come together periodically throughout the year to address the topics of college and careers and the importance of preparing for those endeavors.
