Rooted in the mission of Jesus, the SND National Education Office provides direction and support to sponsored and affiliated ministries in advancing the Educational Vision & Principles of the Sisters of Notre Dame. Our Mission The Sisters of Notre Dame, founded in 1850 in Coesfeld Germany, have a rich history of service in a variety of educational ministries. Today they collaborate with lay colleagues in 18 countries on five continents, bringing the Good News and the transformative power of education to new generations. About Us We devote ourselves to education in all its forms, especially to catechesis and to other ministries. Impelled by a missionary spirit, we respond to the needs of the times and share God’s compassionate love with people of all faiths and cultures, particularly those who are poor and marginalized. “From the beginning of our congregation, Christian education in its various forms has been our principal activity.” Constitutional Directory 66.1 Each day, in classrooms across the world we educate at all levels from pre-school to university. Collaboration has also been the hallmark of our apostolate. As times change and new needs emerge, creative responses call forth new gifts and talents of all those who share in this great work.
