Advocating for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in all schools in California - our children deserve happiness and emotional fulfillment!
By teaching and practicing SEL skills in our schools, educating parents in those skills and involving the whole community involved in a public awareness campaign, we will increase academic achievement (up 11% universally and 17% for at-risk students) and reduce the staggering human and financial costs caused by violence, addiction and other social maladies.
Let's teach our students, their parents and the whole community that our schools can be the first responders to a mental health crisis that has enveloped our state and our country.
Teach kids now so as adults they will be problem-solvers, emotionally healthy and resilient. They will have compassion for others, be able to manage their own emotions and learn how to develop satisfying long-term relationships with others.
Change our education system to teach the emotional and mental health skills necessary to navigate our complex world.
