The World Health Organisation defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not the absence of disease or infirmity. However, mental health is often ignored.
Pharmacy students in Nigeria and Africa at large continue to live in a constant state of mental unwell; from the rigorous test, practical reports, assignments, and marathon examinations to the never-ending day and night classes. Therefore, the need to create a balance in the midst of all these has become paramount.
As pharmacists in training, the importance of living mentally healthy can not be over-emphasized. Mental health encompasses how we feel, think and behave. Improving on these key aspects of our lives is the goal of the Pharmental Initiative.
