The IST African Students Nucleus (NEAIST) was born on October 23, 2019 through an enormous desire not only to promote the inclusion of African students in IST's academic and social life, but also to make known to the student body how African culture is rich and diverse, thus creating a valuable exchange through the development of activities of social, cultural and academic relevance. It aims to support and accompany African students, in particular, throughout their academic careers, thus covering a range of problems that afflict all students at our institution regardless of their origins; in this sense, we are not a nucleus just for African students, we are a nucleus for everyone. This initiative was created after a reflection on the role that the African community has on our campus, which being diverse and with strong cultural values has, after all, a lot to contribute to the rest of the student community. Therefore, we saw the need to address the main problems faced by African students starting their careers at IST, namely with regard to social integration and adaptation to new teaching methods. However, we believe that there must be a climate of mutual help, sharing and respect among all of us so that we can respond to everyone's needs. Participate and be part of our organization!
