The NATO Association of Canada (NAOC) is a Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1966 to promote knowledge and understanding of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Canada. It strives to educate and engage Canadians about NATO and its goals to promote international peace, prosperity and security. The NAOC ensures that we have an informed citizenry able to contribute to discussions about Canada’s role on the world stage.
The NAOC aims to meet its goals by organizing and promoting conferences, seminars, roundtables, speakers’ events and conferences.
As a leading member of the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA), NAOC has strong and enduring ties with sister organizations in many of the alliance countries, as well as members of NATO’s “Partnership for Peace” and “Mediterranean Dialogue” programmes. The NAOC has had a leading role in the recent transformation and modernization of the ATA, and helped to create and develop the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA). The vision of the NAOC is to promote the critical importance in cultural, security and economic terms of the transatlantic relationship among Canada, the United States and the nations of Europe and be the premier sponsor and supporter of NATO in Canada.
