Maharishi School

The mission of Maharishi School is to create an innovative Consciousness-Based educational environment where students think deeply and become creative, compassionate, contributing citizens of the world. We offer Preschool-12 classes and a boarding program for grades 9-12. Consciousness-Based Education provides a systematic program for inner development through the Transcendental Meditation and yoga practice to dissolve stress, optimize brain coherence, and know themselves deeply. We take time for our students to transcend, to invest in rest, to maximize their alertness, and that pays dividends throughout the school day: academic excellence, extracurricular achievement, and social-emotional learning. We are ranked #1 in Iowa by niche.com in K-12 Private Schools, Boarding Schools, and High Schools. Our students earn state and national recognition annually in science research, rocketry, robotics, Destination Imagination (an international creative problem solving competition), drama, tennis, and more. But most importantly, through CBE, they come to know themselves deeply, and draw creativity from that centered sense of self. This is the product of this Consciousness-Based approach: building inner resilience and self-understanding as a foundation for happy, healthy, successful lives.
