Islanders Education (IE) is the largest private education provider in the Maldives. In 2008, IE opened Billabong High International School and Kangaroo Kids Preschool, becoming the first to open a private International School in the capital city, Malé. In 2012, IE was awarded the largest education development project in the capital city - The Ameer Ahmed Education Project, that includes the development of community school, private international preschool and primary school as well as a teacher training institute. Islanders has completed 2 phases of the 4 phase development project (ahead of it's intended schedule) and today operates Kangaroo Kids International Preschool (Dream Campus) and Ameer Ahmed Community School (a Corporate Social Responsibility project) on the Ameer Ahmed Education compound.
Today, IE has 3 International schools with over 3,000 students. IE's student enrollment represents approximately 11% of the total student population in the capital city and 3% of the total student population in the country.
IE offers International educational programs from K-12. It is the master franchise of Kangaroo Kids Eduction Limited (KKEL) in the Maldives and offers the KKEL curriculum from Primary to Secondary. IE schools offer Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for secondary.
