GOVERNMENT COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, KEONJHAR stands in pride and honour imparting the true colours of learning and wisdom. Having its footsteps in one of the oldest Technical Institute, the Orissa School of Mining Engineering, Keonjhar (OSME), it is only the Government College providing Engineering and Technical education in North Odisha. Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar (GCE, Keonjhar) was established in year 1995, having Mining Engineering as the only branch and subsequently in year 1997 two more branches were added to the curriculum i.e Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. In the year 2006, the Government of Odisha declared it as a constituent college of Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Odisha under self-sustaining mode to develop it as a centre of excellence in the field of Engineering & Technology. To make its domain more wider and cater to steel and iron industries which have recently come up near keonjhar, two more branches were added namely Mineral Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering in the year 2008 and 2009 respectively. GCE Keonjhar has been marked as an institute of national importance and the only Government College in the state of Odisha offering B.Tech in Mining Engineering and Mineral Engineering. Government of Odisha declared it as a full- fledged Government Engineering College in the Year 2011 observing its rising excellence and potentiality in growth. The Technology is changing the world and it becomes a challenging task to cater the needs of the industry. Hence, GCE- KEONJHAR has been moving forward on the paths that don’t compromise any effort to satisfy the student’s interest. In the year 2015, Computer Science & Engineering and Civil Engineering were added to the curriculum to facilitate the rapid infrastructural growth of the country and to fulfill the demands of the software industries.
