The Egyptian Institute of Directors (EIoD) is a world class professional Training, Consulting and research center that was established in 2003. The EIoD aims to spread awareness, knowledge and best practices of Corporate Governance in Egypt, MENA Region
The Presidential decree no. 231/2004 - that changed the affiliation of the EIoD from the Ministry of Trade & Industry to the Ministry of Investment - stated that the EIoD is responsible for educating and promoting the principles of Corporate Governance.
After that, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces SCAF decree no. 251/2011 –transferred the affiliation of the EIoD from the Ministry of Investment to the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) which took care of reorganizing the EIoD as an independent unit under the umbrella of FRA due to FRA Board Decree no. 97/2016.
Since it was inaugurated, The EIoD was able to leave a strong positive impression, encourage research, and improve practices of corporate governance in various types of organizations such as listed, non-listed, family-owned business, banks and state-owned enterprises (SOEs). The activities of the Institute are targeted at directors, key executives, shareholders, and other stakeholders of such organizations.
The EIoD collaborates with many leading international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the World Bank Institute (WBI), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), the European Union (EU), and the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).
