The East Hanover Township Public School district is an active learning community in which three schools provide comprehensive programs to prepare students to meet and/or exceed the requirements set forth by the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
The East Hanover School District continued its progress toward a comprehensive balanced literacy program. This initiative supports our goal to responsibly differentiate instructional methodology by employing varied instructional approaches, using carefully selected and leveled reading materials, and otherwise identifying and meeting the learning needs of our students.
All staff members participated in training opportunities of varying types, some of which were in-district, others were out of district, and many supported our initiatives in developing our balanced literacy program.
Keeping parents and others in our educational community informed is another essential element in maintaining support for our schools. Our district website provided improved levels of information regarding school and district programs, events, and news. District and building administrators generate newsletters and/or other forms of print communication. Various forums, e.g. Board of Education, PTA, School Based Planning Teams, and other meetings provided yet other opportunities to communicate.
The East Hanover Township community had reasons to take pride in its school district during the 2008-2009 school year. An informed and responsive Board of Education invited community participation and supported the efforts of its administrative and teaching staff. With the additional services of secretaries, maintenance, transportation, and other support staff, the collaborative efforts resulted in a sound instructional program for students. We will continue to grow and develop in the 2009-2010 school year.
