The German-Canadian Society (DKG), a non-profit organization, was founded in 1951 and aims to advance the economic, cultural and social links between Germany and Canada.
Youth Initiatives
One focus of our work is the promotion of youth activities. In cooperation with the Canadian Embassy in Berlin and many long-standing partners in Canada, we have been organizing a highly successful Work & Travel program for German students since 1965. We have thus become one of the most experienced agents in this field and solely specialize in Canada.
Advancing Economic Relations
Secondly, the DKG offers companies and institutions diverse opportunities to network within the German-Canadian corporate world.
Cultural Encounters with Canada
Thirdly, our association is an active participant in Canadian cultural life in Germany. In close collaboration with the Embassy of Canada in Berlin, the DKG initiates and promotes concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions, lecture series and discussion events centred on Canada.
Promoting Societal Links
It all started with friendships between members of the Canadian armed forces stationed in Germany and the German population. This tradition of fostering social relations remains an important aspect of the DKG. Regular get-togethers, barbecues, pre-Christmas parties, beer garden meetings and the joint participation in sporting events continue to feature in the standard program of our association.
Supra-regional Events for Friends of Canada
Once a year, the German-Canadian Association organizes a festive annual event at a different location. This event brings together all members and friends of the DKG and Canada from all over Germany.
