Coloma Convent Girls’ School in Shirley is recognised as one of the top non-selective secondary schools in the country. We are consistently oversubscribed and a very popular choice within the borough and other local boroughs. In October 2019 Coloma received its fifth ‘Outstanding’ Diocesan Inspection report and in 2021 was named ‘Best School in Croydon’ in the Real Schools Guide. In December 2022, The Times released its ‘Parent Power Schools Guide’ to the top 1600 UK schools based on 2022 exam results. Coloma was ranked 2nd in the best girls’ comprehensive category and 39th in the best comprehensive school category.
Founded in 1869 by The Ladies of Mary (now known as The Daughters of Mary and Joseph), it is situated in extensive grounds on the edge of the Addington Hills. Coloma is very proud of its history of academic achievement; this is due to the hard work, focus and dedication of staff and pupils which permeates the ethos that is Coloma. In 2023 we achieved remarkable exam results with a provisional Progress 8 score of +0.79 at GCSE and 85.2% A* to C grade for A Level students and 100% pass or higher for BTEC.
We value excellent relationships within a caring community. Extra-curricular activities play a huge part in the life and success of the school and pastoral systems are extremely strong. Behaviour is excellent and our students excel in the collaborative and creative environment in the department.
