Code Black Indy is an independent non – profit organization which seeks to create a pipeline and a more diverse tech community, by empowering underprivileged youths in Indiana to be productive in whatever career path they choose to follow rooted in tech. It also seeks to empower youths in the area of governance, the advancement of the economy and the promotion of self-sufficiency. We are also deeply involved in advocacy for youth development and youth participation in entrepreneurship and innovation for a better world through the use of technology.
We are quite aware that the limited resources for minority cultures cause them to be left behind as the rest of the predominantly privileged cultures surge forward and most of the people who are low income tend to be minorities with no resources to build a better future for themselves. From our research and investigation, we realized that people most often than not, go into crime when they are not gainfully employed, or when they are not exposed to resources for more choices that could enlighten them to a different path.
