In a context of climate emergency and constant technological change, artists and scientists share a role of ” scouts “.
Founded in 2017, the Chaire arts & sciences brings together the École polytechnique, the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs-PSL and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, with the aim of strengthening links between the academic world and the civil society.
This unprecedented partnership between an art school, a science school and a foundation committed to civic art operates as a programme of collaborations between researchers, artists, scientists and designers, in order to create a common discourse around our interdependence to the environment: climate issues, relations to the plant world and technologies, material(s) in movement.

The Chaire is space for research, education and mediation. It combines academic excellence with openness to the general public, within three modalities: research-creation, education-training and mediation-diffusion.
The Chaire arts & sciences presents its research projects in the form of interdisciplinary meetings and original practices: conferences, exhibitions of artistic and research-creation installations, study days, workshops or even children’s activities.
The Chaire arts & sciences promotes new approaches to research-creation, through thesis exhibitions, renewed formats of traditional scientific “poster sessions”, the establishment of an interactive cartography of arts-design-sciences journals and the development (in progress) of an interactive art, science & design research journal.
