The Cambridge University India Society (CUIS) is Cambridge's third-largest student-run society, with over 400 active members and many more lifetime alumni. Our membership base is diverse, consisting of both British Indians and international students from India and the rest of the world, as well as many non-Indians who have a passion for the work we do.
CUIS was founded by India’s First Prime Minister, the late Jawaharlal Nehru, during his time at Trinity College, in order to facilitate greater understanding of Indian culture within Cambridge. Today, the society serves a dual purpose of raising awareness of political and economic issues relating to India whilst also acting as a dynamic social platform to enable our members make friendships, network with students in other years and bond over a shared love for India and her culture.
We typically host weekly events, open to all members of the University, which range from academic talks, film nights and sports fixtures to more social events such as formal dinners, club nights, the annual Masti Garden Party and of course our flagship event, the sell-out Annual Ball.
