There are two companies in the Students’ Union; ITSSU and ITSSU Trading, both of these companies have staff members outside the sabbaticals elected each year. ITSSU takes care of the Students’ Union and ITSSU Trading is responsible for the commercial side of the union services ie the non profit shop located in the Students’ Centre.
The union is funded through an allocation of the registration fee from every student in the college with the exception of international students. A proportion of this is taken from the Unions annual budget to pay the affiliation fees to the national organisation. Therefore a proportion of what you pay at the beginning of every year funds the day to day activity of the Students’ Union so it is in your overall best interest to become involved with your union.
