Established in Kolkata, India in 1947, The Industrial Gases Limited was founded by the pioneer entrepreneur in the field of industrial gases, Mr. Kanhiya Lal Garg. The company was initially dedicated to the production and distribution of industrial oxygen, medical oxygen and acetylene gas but soon grew into a multifaceted organization covering the manufacture of acetylene generator, oxygen plants, arc welding electrodes, welding and gas cutting equipment. In 1988, the company was divided into two groups, and one of the groups assumed the name of International Industrial Gases Limited which quickly broke into new ventures including the development of dry and wet flash back and flame arrestors, and various types of valves.
