Our Vision
C4ED’s vision is to improve the lives of the poor and vulnerable by making development interventions more effective.
Our Mission
C4ED is a non-profit research center and registered charity that aims to bridge the gap between research and practice in global development. C4ED conducts impact evaluations and pilots innovative solutions. It also builds capacities, advises and supports its partners, and disseminates evidence what works for whom, when, why and under which circumstances.
With a strong focus on quantitative impact evaluations and mixed-method analyses, we are one of the leading research centers in the areas of poverty reduction, microfinance, health insurance, education, humanitarian assistance, and nutrition in Germany. Our vision is to improve the lives of the poor and the vulnerable by making development interventions more effective. C4ED is currently conducting projects all over the world and maintains research relationships with 3ie, ACTED, IFAD, ILO, IPA, J-PAL, the World Bank, and UNICEF to name just a few of our cooperation partners.
C4ED has numerous Research Affiliates and Research Fellows from reknowned universities all over the world.
C4ED was founded by Prof. Dr. Markus Frölich who is full professor of Econometrics (Chair of Econometrics) at the University of Mannheim in Germany, as well as a permanent guest professor at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
