Afrobarometer is a pan-African, non-partisan research network that conducts public attitude surveys on democracy, governance, economic conditions, and related issues in more than 35 countries in Africa. It is a network of researchers who do scientific citizen-attitude surveys aimed at ensuring that people's views inform the decisions of policy-makers, academics, activists and others. The project was launched in 1999 by three African professors, and now covers 35 countries. The network is managed by the Center for Democratic Development in Ghana, the Institute for Development studies at the University of Nairobi, Institute for Justice and Reconciliation.
