The Center for Environment & Society at Washington College (CES) promotes interdisciplinary learning, research and exemplary stewardship of natural and cultural resources. Its primary objective is to support the integration of ecological and social values.
The Center is home to the Chester River Watershed Observatory, Geographic Information Systems, Chester River Field Research Station, and the Public Archaeology Laboratory. CES also hosts the Chesapeake Semester and Rural Energy Project and manages Washington College's River and Field Campus.
CES offers lecture series, workshops, films and seminars to provide new perspectives and professional developmetnt opportunities for the campus and larger community. Competitively awarded student internships put students to work on real-world problems, allowing them to build a resume and establish connections in the professional world.
