The Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) is Japan's only comprehensive design promotion organization. JDP has raised widespread social appreciation of design and encouraged design that enriches life in many ways, both by supporting the design community and by shedding light on exemplary design. Good Design Award, Tokyo Midtown Design Hub operations, and a range of other design promotion activities demonstrate our commitment to improving the quality of everyday life and industrial production through design.
Good design now benefits society in many ways. Especially in the wake of the Tohoku disaster, as efforts to build society anew gain momentum, more projects are tapping the power of effective design. The Institute believes it is critical to respond to these needs and motivate people to apply the power of design in addressing social issues.
The positive impact of these activities involving Japan and Japanese design is felt far beyond this narrow archipelago. Here in the surging Asian market and around the world, JDP remains committed to projects in conjunction with designers, design-focused companies, and academic and research institutes as we seek opportunities for many people to benefit from good design inspired by our messages to the world.
