Company Details
CUCC is the cricket club for students who represent Cambridge University. It has a history dating back to 1820 and Fenner's, the home of the Club since the 1840s, is justly famous. CUCC has produced many great cricketers over the years, including 21 test captains, 62 other test players and noted senior administrators. The captains extend from Ivo Bligh, who regained the Ashes in Australia in 1882/3, to Mike Atherton, who led England 54 times between 1993 and 2001. Since the second world war, no fewer than ten Cambridge men have captained their countries: Norman Yardley, George Mann, Freddie Brown, Peter May, Ted Dexter, Tony Lewis, Mike Brearley and Mike Atherton (England), Deryck Murray (West Indies) and Majid Khan (Pakistan). Recent test players include, Derek Pringle, Steve James, John Crawley, Ed Smith and Zafar Ansari (England), Greg Loveridge (New Zealand) and Andy Whittall (Zimbabwe). The cricket Blue is awarded to those who play in the annual one and four-day University Matches against Oxford. Since 2008 a Twenty20 fixture has also been played, attracting large crowds in both cities. The Club incorporated CUWCC in 2000 and invests in developing beginners as well as more experienced players. There is an active fixture list and there has been an annual match against Oxford going back to 1945. CUCC was also part of the UCCE and MCCU schemes, which included Anglia Ruskin University. The MCCU/UCCE played County matches, inter-MCCU/UCCE fixtures and competed in the National League CUCC has some 1,200 members: approximately half are current and past players. We are experienced in supporting our sponsors with marketing, graduate recruitment and staging sporting events. We also support charities with charity events and fundraising.
