The German-Southeast Asian Center of Excellence for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG) is a joint academic institute and think tank formed by the German universities of Frankfurt and Münster together with Thammasat University in Bangkok.
Its foundation in 2009 dates back to the German federal government’s excellence initiative as a result of which five centers of excellence with distinct missions were established in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
The research agenda and recommendations of CPG researchers are rooted in open-minded inquiry and intellectual integrity. Our scholars and contributors represent diverse points of view. Research topics cover Comparative Public Law, Human Rights, Governance & Compliance, Security & Peace Studies.
Our mission is to conduct in-depth research, organize academic events, consult and advise public and private stakeholders, and pursue a comparative perspective of transfer of ideas and knowledge between Europe and Southeast Asia.
