Opole is a voivodeship capital, located in the south of Poland near the Czech Republic (45 min of road) and Germany (2 h of road). It covers an area of 149 km2, with a population of 128 000, and, together with the adjacent 19 comunes, forms the Opole Metropolitan Area inhabited by more than 335 000 people. As part of the Opole Metropolitan Area, the city maintains close cooperation with its constituent gminas, directed at economic growth and job creation.
