Chaitanya, a developmental organization established in 1993, has played a catalytic role in spreading the Self-Help-Group (SHG) movement in and around Maharashtra. As one of the resource organizations identified for capacity building under Swashakti, Tejaswini and National Rural Livelihood Mission, Chaitanya is one of the few organizations in the country providing training and resource services to others, based on experiential learning.
In order to expand the work of Chaitanya in other states it has promoted a new entity – Women’s Integrated and Sustainable Empowerment -WISE.
The main objective of WISE is to develop the capabilities of the rural poor, especially women and youth, to become leaders in the process of development to increase their quality of life.
