Women’s Identity and Progress (WIP) is a social impact organization that aims to empower women from low-income households. It is a result of the acknowledgment that an equal world will remain a work-in-progress unless each one of us consciously takes on the responsibility to build it
Our vision is to leverage technology, new-age media, and innovative approaches to bridge pivotal gaps in the business and civil society ecosystem around three impact areas: (a) better working conditions and choices, (b) improved financial, physical, and mental health, (c) enhanced social agency and dignity
We are currently volunteer-led and in the process of developing a better understanding of a complex ecosystem and planning and piloting programs around solving four major ecosystem barriers – (a) employer/ consumer’s attitude and preferences, (b) low digital access and skills amongst women (c) gendered design and access to new solutions (d) capacity constraints of small-scale women-oriented organizations
Overview of current programs:
-The Blue Divide (www.bluedivide.org): Informing & sensitizing people about the challenges of women in the informal/ rural economy through content and engagement events
-Partners in Progress: Providing consulting and capacity building support to women-oriented small organizations (NGOs, not-for-profits, micro-enterprises, social start-ups)
-Maitri: Enabling access to smartphones for women; improving and up-skilling their knowledge on using a phone effectively for income generation, health and knowledge and all-round mentorship
-Suvidha (Innovations Lab): Researching and building inclusive marketable solutions in the household management and consumer fashion and goods industries
