West Virginia Child Advocacy Network is the statewide leader in the fight against child abuse — we connect the community and professionals to the resources they need to ensure all children have access to safe, high-quality care.
With 20 child advocacy centers across the state, WVCAN was able to provide help to over 3,000 children in 2014. Our commitment to and support of the CAC model saved taxpayers $3 million dollars, not by cutting corners, but by promoting care that works and gives victims and those reporting it a safe, effective, and trusted system.
Traditionally, children are moved from agency to agency and endure multiple interviews, which creates additional trauma. A child advocacy center (CAC) turns that model upside down by providing one safe, child-friendly facility where child protection, criminal justice, and child treatment professionals work together to investigate abuse, hold offenders accountable, and help children heal.
