Ubuntu Pathways (formerly Ubuntu Education Fund) is a nonprofit organization that provides an integrated support system of health, education, and social support in the townships of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Ubuntu Pathways breaks the cycle of poverty by providing South Africa's most vulnerable children with what all children deserve—everything, every day.
Founded in 1999 by Jacob Lief and Malizole “Banks” Gwaxula, Ubuntu Pathways has become an internationally-recognized model for development. Our impact is made possible by trusting those closest to the problem to create the solution. Today, 95% of the team at the Ubuntu Campus in Port Elizabeth, South Africa comes from the community we serve. These staff members are leaders in their community, driving the vision of one of the most innovative organizations on the continent.
