Poltimore House Trust is a charity dedicated to the restoration of Poltimore House, a Grade 2* mansion near Exeter. Through the repair and renovation of this historic house, the Trust aims to provide a blend of new uses to sustain its future.
We have ambitious plans for the restoration of Poltimore House as a focal point for the arts, business, communities and wellbeing, creating a space for the 21st Century that combines heritage and the natural environment with creativity and innovation. This amazing place is already bringing diverse people and organisations together, and we’re steadily growing our community of supporters and stakeholders.
Alongside the physical restoration of the House, we need sustainable sources of income to support it into the future. The success of Branches Café represents the first step in that journey. We’re now working on plans to create a pilot co-working hub, and to enhance the capacity of the House & Grounds to host business meetings, private parties and weddings, as well as an enhanced programme of public events.
Restoring the House will take time, but we will realise our vision step-by-step:
2021-2022
• Opening Branches Café as a meeting place for visitors and the community, and as a private hire venue.
• Completing the restoration of the porch and hall.
• Opening a co-working space and meeting room in the former kitchen block.
• Launching detailed plans and a fundraising campaign to restore the Library, Saloon and Dining Room.
• Improving accessibility in the Grounds and creating a wildlife area with new ponds and planting.
2023-4
• Launching the restored Library, Saloon and Dining Room as a commercial and community venue.
• Working on plans for restoring the remainder of the ground floor and first floor rooms.
2025-6
• Work begins on the West Wing and first floor.
• Branches Café relocates to the House.
We need people with a wide range of skills to help us achieve our vision, from gardening
