In the fight to end breast cancer forever, we are central Indiana’s locally led and empowered affiliate of Susan G. Komen®. Our mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
Each year in central Indiana, about 2,065 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed and 420 women or men will die from the disease.
Komen's bold goal is to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50 percent by 2026.
75 percent of our net proceeds fund breast health outreach, services, treatment assistance, patient navigation and survivor support for Hoosiers in our 41-county service area. Since 1997, Komen Central Indiana has awarded over $20 million in community grants to local organizations that deliver breast health services.
The remaining 25 percent of our net proceeds goes to the Komen Research Grant Program to fund research seeking the causes, improved treatments and ultimately the cures for breast cancer. Every major advancement in the fight against breast cancer has been funded in part by Komen dollars.
