The Science Fair Program in British Columbia was initiated in 1983. After 15 years of successful but informal operation, in 1998 the Science Fair Foundation of British Columbia (SFF BC) was established as a not-for-profit registered charity for the purpose of permanently supporting and promoting The Science Fair Program throughout B.C. To accomplish its mission and vision, SFF BC, through the efforts of its Board of Directors and Executive Director, and with the help of thousands of volunteers, has developed the organization, expertise, and processes for promotion and delivery of science fairs in British Columbia.
The Science Fair Program is available to all British Columbia students through classroom, school and district level non-competitive and competitive fairs. The network of 14 Regional Science Fairs (covering the entire province and Yukon Territory) enables students to compete to attend the annual national Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF).
