Sponsor a Gambian Girl is a non-profit organization which seeks to sustainably empower girls and women in The Gambia through education. Convinced that a better future is built and maintained through education, and conscious of the fact that millions of girls around the world lack basic support to access quality education, SaGG intends to focus its intervention on linking schoolgirls in The Gambia with potential sponsors in the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries.
The SaGG Foundation is a girl’s education movement, with aim of championing the cause for girl child education in The Gambia. Education is a basic human right; our vision is to advocate and pair up girls with sponsors.
The SaGG Foundation supports underprivileged and marginalised girls with the opportunity to go to school, to change their generational family story and to live successful lives.
The founders of the Sponsor a Gambian Girl met at work in the United Kingdom, they were paired up for a 'coffee date' as part of their work's employee engagement initiative. They both realised that they shared the same passion to make a small change in the world. The dream to champion the cause for girls' education in The Gambia was born in November 2018. So far 60 girls have been paired up with sponsors supporting them through school.
