Social Opportunities (SOCOPS) was created to reach out to Children with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and their families to provide help, support and understanding. We recognise the challenges faced by the children and their family unit, our friendly staff, volunteers and trustees alike are mainly made up from professionals working within this field or parents who have benefitted from the support SOCOPS provides.
Children benefit from accessing activities such as Art, music, dance, cooking, sports, team games, storytelling, animal experiences, and family trips out. Siblings (young carers) are activity encouraged to join in with these activities which are aimed at providing a positive experience for the Autistic child whilst improving social interactive skills, self-esteem and confidence. A small snack and refreshments are offered.
Many parents and carers relax and enjoy a social cuppa providing mutual support through personal experiences and passing on those important ‘how to’ tips in life or gather information through leaflets, signposting advice and guest speakers.
All our staff are DBS checked. As a family oriented club, parents or carers remain within the premises for encouraged engagement.
