Petek 1855 has been producing fine leather goods for over 160 years. The company’s roots go back to the year 1855 when a family of saddle craftsmen working for the Ottoman Imperial Army opened a workshop in a small town in Macedonia. In later years, the family business moved to the imperial capital Istanbul - a diverse multicultural city full of colour and character.
Upon arrival in Istanbul the company chose the name Petek, which translates as ‘honeycomb’, symbolizing the craft and hard work of the honeybee. Akin to a beehive, the Petek family company runs every part of the business from manufacturing through to retail under a single roof.
The traditional expertise of the imperial leather craftsmen has been passed down the family for 5 generations and continues to be part of every Petek 1855 products.
