Niños de Guatemala [NDG] is a nonprofit working to break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala by providing quality education to those who need it most. Since our founding in 2006, we have opened two primary schools and one middle school which now serve more than 500 children from low-income families in Ciudad Vieja and San Lorenzo de Cubo.
Our schools are approved by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education, and all of our graduates receive an official diploma. We only hire certified Guatemalan teachers and place no more than twenty-five students in each grade. To ensure each child receives personalized academic support, international volunteers work in our schools as classroom assistants.
NDG is continually striving to ensure not just the academic but also the physical and emotional wellbeing of our students. All of the children in our programs receive one nutritious snack a day, medical and dental care, instruction on proper health and hygiene, and access to our Family Support Programs including social work visits, self-esteem programs, and therapy for all students who need it.
Niños de Guatemala is a legally registered non-profit in Guatemala, in the Netherlands (ANBI), and in the United States (registered as a 501(c)(3) organization). Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
