Ngā Tāngata Microfinance is a non-profit organisation focused on helped financially vulnerable New Zealanders to get ahead with money.
Working closely with financial mentors around Aotearoa New Zealand, we aim to break the cycle of financial stress by offering ethical, fair and affordable loans that give Kiwis a ‘hand up’, not a ‘hand-out’.
Ngā Tāngata means ‘for the people’ in Māori, which perfectly sums up what we’re about. We’re here to help tangata whenua and tauiwi on low incomes to avoid the trap of ‘loan sharks’ and high-interest loans, to learn financial skills that last a lifetime, and to be able to better look after their families.
Our goal is to empower financially vulnerable Kiwis to become financially capable Kiwis, so they’re better off in the long term. For their whānau, for their future, and for generations to come.
“Kua raranga tahi tātou he whāriki mō āpōpō.”
“Together we weave the mat for future generations.”
