The National Maritime Museum of Ireland is operated by the Maritime Institute of Ireland; assisted by FAS & a network of volunteers.
The museum reopened in 2012 having undergone major refurbishment. We cater for tours for all age groups & have guides available.
Our primary focus is to promote a greater awareness of the maritime heritage of Ireland & in this endeavour we would propose to work with different stakeholders who have an interest in enhancing & developing our maritime culture.
The Maritime Institute of Ireland fosters an appreciation of our Maritime Heritage. To that end we operate the museum, host lectures, issue newsletters and a journal, maintain a library, host and support commemorations, promote and conduct research and publish articles.
We are currently working on developing a library in the gallery area where we will reference & display our extensive archive, with the aim of furthering & assisting research into our maritime heritage.
