NEN, the Dutch knowledge network for standards development and implementation, became Royal NEN in 2016. A milestone in the history of standardization. Founded in 1916 as the 'Main Commission for the Standardization of the Netherlands', NEN has grown into an organization with approximately 280 employees, over 500 standards committees and more than 5,000 active committee members.
We act as a facilitator for standardization. NEN does this by bringing together stakeholders on a particular subject and providing it's expertise on standardization. The result is a widely accepted standard that can be implemented within the particular branche. Well known standards are ISO 9001, NEN 1010 and ISO 26000.
We also publishes the national and international standards to make them as widely accepted as possible. Finally we provide training courses and give advise on implementing the standards.
