Mind Jersey is a small and independent local charity affiliated to Mind in the UK. Our vision is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all and treats people with experience of mental illness, fairly, positively and with respect. People who experience mental health illness are at the heart of what we do.
We aim to:
- Change public attitudes, reduce stigma and misunderstanding
- Influence government policy and improve practice towards people with mental illness
- Provide support and help so that people can take control of their mental health and live full lives
- Make lives better for their families and friends
- Promote greater ‘User involvement’ in shaping services and feeding back to service providers
We provide a number of specialist services including:
- An Independent Mental Health Advocacy Service
- A Family and Carers’ Support Service
- A fully staffed, round the clock registered residential home
- A Peer Support Service
We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Rates of depression and anxiety are increasing. At any one time 1 in 4 people develop some form of mental illness. It can affect anyone, of any age and will be affecting someone you know. By 2020 it will be the 2nd most common cause of ill health after heart disease.
