For over 50 years, the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation has provided critical financial support to MUSC benefiting students, patients, faculty, doctors, nurses, researchers, and staff. We help donors invest in MUSC through establishing enduring scholarships, building state-of-the-art hospitals, endowing faculty chairs, funding breakthrough research, and much more.
The Foundation performs four critical functions for MUSC:
- Administers donor gifts and unrestricted funds for the financial support of MUSC
Invests Foundation assets
- Owns and manages real estate
- Provides strategic advice
Raising money is critical to the success of the Foundation, but the actual work of developing donor relationships and soliciting gifts happens outside the Foundation. Fundraising is the primary responsibility of the Institutional Advancement team, which is part of MUSC.
The Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that was established to support MUSC – both the University and MUSC Health – but it is a legally separate institution.
