A person experiencing a mental health crisis presents some of the most intricate, dangerous, and unstable conditions that a police officer may encounter. Today, an increasing number of 911 calls involve people in a mental health crisis.
Minnesota Crisis Intervention Team (MN CIT) provides training for Minnesota law enforcement officers in how to safely de-escalate and defuse these crisis situations with a focus on safety for all involved. The training is provided by professionals in mental health who also have a law enforcement background. Training courses are designed in accordance with national standards.
MN CIT's course is well established with specific curriculum goals and objectives; our classes satisfy Minnesota POST mandated training.
