Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15 – 44 with around 21,000 Australians affected by the death of someone to suicide every year. Lifeline is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. These services include: • 24 Hour Telephone Crisis Line – 13 11 14 • Lifeline Text, 6pm - midnight (AEDT) - 0477 13 11 14 • Online Crisis Support Chat www.lifeline.org.au/gethelp • Service Finder - free directory of local health and community services • DValert - Domestic Violence Response Training Our History We were established in Wollongong in March 1969 and the Nowra branch was opened in 1981. The service is non-denominational and Volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporters come from a wide range of backgrounds. Today, somewhere in Australia there is a new call to Lifeline’s 24 hour crisis line 13 11 14 every minute. As a charity we rely on the support of the community to support our life saving work.
