La Esperanza Granada is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious educational NGO, funded by both private and public donations.
‘Born’ in 2002, we started in a small village on the outskirts of Granada, and we now help more than 400 children and young people in poverty-stricken areas. We are a dedicated charity that supports children in rural neighbourhoods, by giving them access to quality education to help improve future prospects break the cycle of poverty.
We work in a non-invasive way, working directly with local communities to run Learning Centers for primary aged children during after-school hours, and sponsorship programmes for Secondary and University students.
Our mission: By providing opportunities and resources for the long term educational advancement and community development of Nicaraguan barrios we hope to brighten the future of the children by empowering the people of the villages to improve their current living conditions and break the cycle of poverty. Our focus is on children’s education.
Our motto: We believe in giving a hand up, not a handout.
