In the earlier years of 20th century, Jazz was an enclusive music that served only the upper-class. Several decades later, a group of visionary student from the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia contrived to make jazz more inclusive, especially for students, and came up with the idea of conducting a jazz performance at their campus.
The very first Jazz Goes To Campus was held in 1976, performed only on one stage and attended by no more than 2000 audience. To keep the value of “Bringing Jazz to Campus”, Jazz Goes To Campus continually develops and expands its program to deliver the purpose of spreading jazz across nation. Today, Jazz Goes To Campus has become the oldest and most celebrated international jazz festival in Indonesia consist of a series events annually and have reached more than 20.000 audience.
